Each week, Tweevo post a tip of the week that allows you to get the most out of the internet for your business. This week we’re going to discuss the value of having a blog on your website.

Blogging can increase your business.

A blog on your website can help add some personality to your business and can show customers who they are dealing with, showing that there is a face behind your business. Having a blog is an amazing way to allow your opinions and insights to shine through.

Why should you blog?

  • Gives you free publicity through search engines results
  • Can bring more traffic to your website
  • It’s another method to talk to your customers
  • Makes your website look more active and content rich (great for SEO)
  • Builds repeat visits to your site
  • Gives you a medium to promote new products and offers quicker than other methods

Always remember to…

Whilst blogging can be a useful tool for your business. It’s important to remember that blogging isn’t always easy, it can sometimes be a lot of work – something any business owner is already aware of.

When you start blogging keep in mind a few rules…

  • Always be consistent – When you blog it need’s to be consistent, even if you intend on only posting something fortnightly. You need to keep this up. This way visitors are aware of when your should be posting something new and will encourage a regular stream of visitors.
  • Content, content, content - Make sure you only post relevant content in your blogs. If the title is about a new product, keep it to that and save other topics for other posts.
  • Be the insightful expert - If you are providing useful information and tips, your company is shown to have expertise in your given field and adds value to your company.
  • Structure and grammar - You will lose peoples interest if you post articles with spelling and grammar mistakes all the time. Try to take your time when writing so it doesn’t appear as rushed and poorly written article. This will only decrease the value of the post and could potentially br counter-productive.

Each week, Tweevo post a tip of the week that allows you to get the most out of the internet for your business. This week we’re going to discuss one of the many free advertising options, Google Places.

What is Google Places?

Google Places is a business listing system, based on it’s Google Maps product. When users search for a service/business on Google, Google will automatically use their IP address to find the area they live, and then provide within the search results a map with companies closest to them.

Why is this good?

The map listing system normally comes within the top 2 or 3 results, meaning people are more likely going to stumble across your link/site. Best of all, this is completely free.

How do I sign up?

Google makes this super easy, just head over to Google Places and follow the on-screen instructions. It’s straight forward, but if you want free help in setting up your local listing get in touch.

Social media is a huge deal these days, with many of the larger companies taking opportunity of the mass audience… but can you also benefit from the micro-messaging service?

The concept of twitter is simple, tweet small message (of which can include links) that are under 140 characters sages into the wild to be read by any people ‘following’ you. Followers are people that are signed up to be notified of any messages you send – these messages are not forced upon them however, they are read through a unified feed which they see when they login to Twitter.

Twitter to date has over 25 million members, members that could be interfacing with your brand and products. Is it for your company? Twitter, by nature is more ideal for national companies than local – as the people who will follow you can be from many countries around the world.

But does your company suit the environment of Twitter? It’s fair to say that pretty much all companies suit Twitter, and the limitation is how much time you have to spend interfacing with the world wide web. What is SEO, why is it important?

Many companies under-estimate the power of the web and how it can help your business.  Search engines such as Google, Bing and Yell are quickly becoming the first place people look when wanting to find a company, product or service.  This is where SEO becomes the key to making a website work…

What is SEO? It is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimisation and is used as a key tool for website owners to get more traffic to the website. What does it do? It’s a way of analysing and building websites so that they can be found a lot easier when they are indexed by the search engines.

SEO can help make the content on your website more relevant and easier to understand when the search engines are crawling your site and indexing the data.

If you search for help in trying to get your website higher in the search engine results you will find hundreds if not thousands of different methods that claim they can help, however I believe SEO is by far and away the most effective method used to date, the reason for this is because by structuring the content effectively and getting link backs shows the search engines your site is more valuable this making them more inclined to rank your site higher.

The goal when using SEO on a website is to get the traffic increased and to appear on the first few pages of the search engine, also ensuring that the website stays in this position and comes ahead of the competition in the search engine results.
